My Cuppa Tea!!!

I have never really been a ‘Tea Person’ except, for the occasional Ginger Tea and the Masala chai that I make at home. It was on one such occasion, when I had gone to a Nuts and Spices store that I came across a packet of dried lemon grass. Now I knew that lemongrass was an integral part of Thai cuisine and the all time famous Thai Green Curry, got its distinct flavor from this wonder ingredient. I decided to buy it and cook up something awesome using this new find of mine.

Lemongrass

However, as days passed I couldn’t really cook anything using lemongrass. Either the recipes were not suitable for our palate or I couldn’t figure out how to go about cooking them. I have never been a great cook and many a times my experiments in the kitchen, have turned out to be a disaster. I was now stuck with this packet of lemongrass not knowing what to do with it. That’s when I came across an article that read ‘Benefits of Lemongrass’. Now before listing out the benefits, let me tell you what I did with it. I thought why not try making lemon grass tea.
I boiled a teaspoon of dried lemon grass, in a cup of water for about 3 mins and then let it simmer again for another 1 min and then strained the water using a tea strainer. The color was almost like that of green tea. Then I added some cinnamon powder, a pinch of ginger powder and a teaspoon of honey instead of sugar for the sweetness. For those who are not calorie conscious, you can add sugar as per taste. But I would suggest that you skip the sugar and add honey because honey is good for health and you can avoid those extra calories. Cinnamon and ginger powder also became a part of the ingredient because they add better taste to the tea and also because of their additional health benefits. Now what I had in hand was a cup of lemongrass ginger tea which looked just perfect and tasted so different. To some it would taste like your green tea, but the flavor of lemongrass just cannot be missed.
Now let me tell you the health benefits of this lemongrass ginger tea.
